North Michigan Creek Dam Rehabilitation Project
Walden, CO

Client: Colorado Parks and Wildlife

Role: Independent Cost Estimator

Unfiltered seepage was coming from the right abutment of the existing North Michigan Creek Dam. The solution involved constructing a chimney drain to collect the right abutment seepage of the existing earthen fill dam, replacing the existing concrete spillway with a new structure, and installing filter drains.

Phil served as the ICE for Colorado Parks and Wildlife, performing independent quantity takeoffs, developing the schedule, and comparing estimates at the 60%, 90%, and 100% design with the selected CM/GC. Phil provided constructability comments to minimize costs, challenge the production rates of the contractor's estimate, and optimize the construction to eliminate the need for a second-season construction period. A risk register included estimated costs, schedule impacts, and the likelihood of occurrence for CPW to set up a contingency for the project. Phil continues to provide support to CPW as needed during the construction.
